She Plays My Heart Like A Theremin December 19, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — Steve Barman @ 7:43 pm

My comic has arrived from the printers! It will be available at indyplanet AND from me. The cost is $5 (this includes shipping). You can order a copy by sending $5 via paypal to stevepareidolia@gmail.com (make sure to leave your shipping address).

A beautifully illustrated adventure in self-loathing and unrequited love, “She Plays My Heart Like A Theremin” is the debut comic from Barman & Eckert. A cerebral love story of romance, Karl Marx, and Albert Camus.

Part one of their “Theremin Trilogy”. The second part will be a feature film. This rare edition print is a two part story. One part linear story telling, another part artistic ego bludgeoning.

MST3K: Rifftrax vs. Cinematic Titanic December 6, 2008

Mystery Science Theater 3000 was a great show and should have never been canceled. The show ran 11 years and grew a massive following of devoted fans.

For those of you living in the dark, for the past couple of years Rifftrax.com has been a service from Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, Bill Corbett of MST3K. They produce audio commentary where they make fun of the movies. You can purchase these as mp3′s and watch them along with any movie they choose. Because they’re not breaking copyright they can riff any movie, The Dark Knight is their newest release.

Then, here is the news: Joel Hodgson, Trace Beaulieu, J. Elvis Weinstein, Mary Jo Pehl, and Frank Conniff have launched their own MST3K type business: Cinematic Titanic! Cinematic Titanic features the ORIGINAL Mystery Science Theater 3000 writers, with silhouettes in front of the screen, making fun of the movie. Giving the features a much more MST3K feeling. They also have live performances occasionally.

Will this be an epic MST3K bloodbath of the later writers versus the earlier writers!? Time Will tell. I’ve been listening to a lot of rifftrax (very funny), now I need to try cinematic titanic which seems very funny.

Here’s samples of both:
